Test and Tag or Testing and Tagging of electrical equipment is necessary in a modern workplace to reduce the risk of electrical incidents.

Testing and Tagging of appliances will not eliminate electrical hazards from the workplace.

It is important to note that TSG Electrical & Fire Contractor recommends a holistic approach to electrical safety including the installation and regular testing of Safety Switches (RCDs).

Important Note: Safety Switches in your switchboard or generator cannot be tested with a CAT 2 testers like use by test and tag companies.

Latest information from Australia’s largest supplier of portable alliance testers. “ 3.6.2020 – All portable appliance testers are rated CAT II and should not be used for switchboard RCD testing… Portable appliance testers are design to test the electrical safety of portable and domestic appliances that plug into a mains power socket, hence their category rating is CAT II. All work on switchboards requires at least CAT III rated test instruments.”

The Testing Process

As a result of using our services, a technician will arrive on time. Once on site we will report to the person responsible for engaging our services.

We will then complete a risk assessment and safe work method statement, also at that point we welcome the opportunity to complete any required site specific inductions.

The Test Instruments

TSG Electrical & Fire Contractor utilise the industry leading Seaward Portable Appliance Tester (PAT) to test and tag.  Our test instrumentation includes manufacturers such as Clipsal, Meggar, Hioki and Kyoritsu.

The Test and Tag

TSG Electrical & Fire Contractor use quality test instruments that produce a computer generated tag with barcode.  We have the ability to customise our tags to print our clients Company Name on them.

Documentation

Test and Tag results are downloaded from the testers and you will be issued test documentation.  This documentation includes a full detailed Asset List, Test Results, Failed items list and a Certificate of Test (insert picture of tag).

Documentation – Detailed Asset List or Electrical Register

Our clients are issued a full “Detailed Asset List” in PDF format.  The Detailed Asset List (or Electrical Register) lists all electrical assets tested.  The Detailed Asset List includes the unique barcode the appliance was issued, make, and serial number of every appliance tested.
