
A competent and qualified are not the same thing.
Differences between the two.
A competent person is capable of identifying hazards based on experience and/or training (6 hour course).
An employer determines Competency not a third party company. (employer takes on the risk)
There is no licence requirement in NSW to do test and tagging.
Some test and tag technician show their course certificate, claiming its a licence this false claim “Beware of these Cowboys”
Qualified person, is defined as one who
“by possession of a recognized degree, certificate, or professional standing, and has extensive knowledge, training (over 4 years) and experience (around 1000 hours), has successfully demonstrated his ability to solve or resolve problems relating to the subject matter.
Have been assessed by a government organisation.
Licenced by the government (which is the case in the electrical trade services).
